Alcodast Airsoft Upgrades, Phase 1: MOSFET
This is the introduction to my new line of Internal Airsoft upgrades.
This week I’m taking a break from my normal posts on Slingin Plastic to fill you in on my upcoming line of Airsoft MOSFETs. As an airsoft tech, I have been building fets for customers for years now, and I feel that it is time to take my designs to the next level. I plan to have first run hit the market in December 2017, but pre-orders will be available starting in October 2017.
I would like to thank everybody who participated in the testing and helped me work out the problems with my initial designs. All three of my basic fets work flawlessly now and I am very pleased with the results of the testing. Their performance surpassed what even I had expected, and I could not be happier. It is my pleasure to share these with the Airsoft world.
To accompany the release of my MOSFETs, I will be making a number of articles that cover everything you need to know about MOSFETs in airsoft, as well as a more technical article on electricity inside your replica.
I have designed three MOSFETs for a number of different applications. The largest of these is smaller than a nickel, but took a beating from several very powerful AEGs like a boss. The smallest fits inside the cap of a ball point pen, and is just as effective in nearly every respect. They are designed to be integrated into preexisting MOSFET setups, but a drop-in variant will be available for them all.
Here they are, in order of ascending value:
The ComFET:
This is a streamlined version of the popular DIY MOSFET seen on the market today. It has multiple levels of protection, as well as one of the most advanced MOSFET chips available on the market. It has a much lower internal resistance than the common 3034 chip, and so has a much higher inherent durability. It is fully protected from voltage spikes, and Capable of taking any of the common batteries used in Airsoft today. The ComFET will start at $17.
The MiniFET:
This little beast packs a lot of punch in a small package. It is small enough to fit in any space your replica’s wires can run. The MiniFET is fully protected from voltage spikes and motor feedback, and is able to take a variety of batteries.
This fet was tested and confirmed to outperform several popular MOSFETs in both efficiency and rate of fire. This is the perfect choice for protecting your AEG’s internals and improving your replica’s efficiency, even if it is already upgraded with a MOSFET. The MiniFET will start at $23.
The ProFET:
This is the most powerful of my MOSFETs to date. It is a doubled version of the MiniFET, capable of taking the strain of replicas that can draw as many as 60 Amps per shot. That is the equivalent of a normal AEG shooting 650 FPS! In short, you will never need worry about your replica being able to outperform this fet. To top it off, This fet is still smaller than a nickel and will fit hidden within most AEG replicas. This was achieved without sacrificing any of the great features of the MiniFET, including even more protection the improved efficiency. The ProFET will start at $28.
The standard package for all of my MOSFETs will contain the chip itself, wired to deans, an extra pair of deans connectors for integration, and a set of signal wires. A discount will be offered for the “Naked” variant, which will not contain the extra deans or the signal wires, for those who already have a compatible setup and do not wish to waste money. Some soldering may be required for this package. Professional installation is highly recommended.
The drop-in package will include the things from the standard package, except that the extra connectors and signal wires will already be soldered on to the included trigger contacts and wire harness. There will be variants for all common connector types (Large Tamiya, small Tamiya, Deans), as well as the option to select your trigger contact types. Packages for V2 and V3 gearboxes will remain in stock whenever possible, and the buyer may specify ANY other gearbox or wiring configuration (such as AUG V3, V6 or V7) to be custom made for their specific replica.
I always strive to make things as painless as possible for those I do business with, so it is my intention to offer a 100% money back guarantee. I’m certain that these MOSFETs will meet your standards as well as they met mine. I am excited to see where this venture takes me.
These MOSFETs and more are available on my shop.
It is also my intention to Build business to the point of creating an entire line of internal upgrade parts for both AEGs and Spring rifles. I hope to address all of the issues people have with their replicas on a daily basis, and provide simple solutions for the problems that people encounter all the time. My plan is to make not only top-quality parts, but just as with my MOSFETs, to keep them affordable for all.
Pre-Orders for all three of my fets will begin in October. The initial release will happen on December 1st, 2017. Pre-orders will get a special discount, so be sure to head over to the shop and place your order soon.
Thanks all! See you next time when I talk about The Electronics of Airsoft, Part 1 of 4.
